I am still in awe that we got tickets!  The game was sold out, but thankfully our company is a sponsor at Miller Park, so we got 4 tickets 5 rows off the field on the 3rd base side.  We found out 5 hours before the game that we had the tickets.  Although we hit bad traffic, we still made it in for the first pitch.

The game was a ton of fun.  We got to see the sausage race and have bad food at high prices.  I can still smell the stale beer.  But it wouldn't be a game without it.  Thanks to Gehl for the great tickets!

At the auto museum we saw pictures of a truck in a tree and we told Don that it was on our way back to West Bend.  We decided to take a picture to prove it. : )  If you click on the picture you can see it better.  Remember that this picture was taken while driving at about 75 mph through our windshield.

Sunday Don, Phil, Mark and I went to the auto museum in Rockton, Illinois  We lived in Rockton for 3 years and had no idea that we had this museum so close.  It was different that I had expected but was very cool.

They had the car that was behind JFK's car when he was shot, two Batman Returns cars, some clothes from different presidents and their wives, a few Marilyn Monroe dresses, furniture that was used in the White House in the past and a ton more things worth seeing.

2008 Wiener Roast

Wiener Roast 2008

Saturday was the wiener roast and the weather was amazing!  I used my camera at the beginning of the wiener roast and after we took the family pictures my memory cWiener Roast 2008ard went bad.  So...I lost about 40 pictures, but luckily there were many other people that took pictures so we still have some.  Don was nice enough to give me all of the pictures that he took so we have a few.  We were lucky that we did bring Mark's camera as well, so we were still able to get a few of our own.  Click here for all of the pictures.

I think that everyone had a wonderful time on Saturday.  It was around 85 degrees and no humidity.

There was volleyball, bags, and frisbee being played as well as everyone sitting around and chatting.  We bought water balloons but didn't really need to use them to cool off.

Of Wiener Roast 2008course we cooked hot dogs on the fire as well as corn on the cob.  We had a ton of snacks and plenty of salads.  Everything was delicious!

Brian, Hope, Mark, and I camped out in the side yard, but not before making smores and singing while Brian and Mark played guitars around the campfire.

We missed those of you that weren't able to make it and hope that you can next time!

Wisconsinites say the darndest things

by Mark Baylor, posted July 24, 2008 11:50

Since April and I have been here for about 3 months, we have picked up on some interesting things that our fellow Wisconsin residents say.

1.  Gateway to Canada

There is an excessive use of the word "hey" around here.  "Do you want to hear the next Wisconsinism, hey."  Some people even say "eh."

2.  Pluralizing random words

People pluralize words that don't need to be.  The most popular phrase is "Somewheres around here".  Somewheres around here there is another Wisconsinism.

3.  Strong feelings about the word soda

Alot of people don't even know what pop is.  People feel strongly about their soda.

4.  What's a bubbler?

I remember when I heard the term bubbler, and it was in 5th grade.  That was the last time I heard it until 3 months ago.

5.  Should have did

I "should have did this" and I "should have did that."  This is the one that gets under my skin the most.

It's an interesting demographic.  Enough said.

Milwaukee Food Tours

April and I went on a fantastic trip to Milwaukee to enjoy a Milwaukee Food Tour.  We really enjoyed ourselves.  Along the tour we learned more about the history of Milwaukee, and also got to sample some fantastic food, deemed best in Milwaukee.  I tried some food that really made me appreciate how great some of these restaurants are.  The map that I have attached shows the 8 places that we went to along the way.

Click the link below the map to see it larger with names of the stops.

I would recommend that everyone does this tour to get a feel for the strong Italian and German influence on the city.

We went grocery shopping tonight and they had large strawberries.  We decided to get them so that we could make chocolate covered strawberries.  We had a little assembly line going on where I dried the strawberries and Mark dipped them.

Landscaping Landscaping

Shortly after we moved into the house we decided that we wanted to a few plants to the landscaping.  There were very few plants around the house so we added a few hostas, lilies, a rhododendron, and a few other plants.  I also took a few pictures to show the back yard and the nice barrier that the previous owners put in about 3 years ago.  Just like last year we decided to do a few pots of flowers.  Once again we used the miracle grow potting soil and the plants look awesome!

Milwaukee

IMG_1245IMG_1247Since we were taking Michele to the Amtrak station in Milwaukee we decided that we would make a day out of it.  We decided that we would go on the riverwalk.  Instead of only doing the riverwalk we also walked to the lake and saw the art museum.  We weren't able to go in because we didn't have enough time.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, like it was all week and weekend.

We wanted something light for lunch so we decided that we would take Michele to IMG_1255the Chocolate Factory which is an area sub and ice cream shop.  All three of us were good and didn't get ice cream. : )

After lunch is when we walked to the art museum, picture to the right.  From there we could see and hear summerfest, and also see Lake Michigan.  Mark and I decided that some weekend are going to go and enjoy Milwaukee again.

Here are all of the pictures of our half day in Milwaukee
