Today we ventured out to Glacial Blue Hills Park and went hiking.  It was only about 1.3 miles but it wasn't flat at all, so we did get a little bit of a work out.  This park is part of the Ice Age Trail which we plan on hiking sometime.

Sandy Knoll

We decided that since it was so beautiful outside that we would get Subway and go to Sandy Knoll for a picnic and hiking.  Sandy Knoll has cross country skiing trails so we followed those for our hike.  There is also a little pond which you are allowed to swim in but I wouldn't recommend it.

This weekend we went down to Illinois to Lauren's two year birthday party.  Lauren is the daughter of our friends, Bill and Tanya.  While there we also were able to see their new house.  We have a few other mutual friends, so it was great to be able to see everyone.

We traveled to Illinois on Friday night and stayed at Mark's parent's house.  Saturday during the day we didn't do a whole lot except for visit and go to the apple orchard where we got honey crisp apples, caramel apples, and an apple pie.  We left shortly after lunch today.

Office closet is redone

by April Baylor, posted September 7, 2008 06:48

We want to redo our master bedroom closet shelving similar to the shelving we had at the other house.  We figured in order to become familiar with how the shelving is installed we might as well start on the easy closet.  The office closet was the lucky one.

Office Shelving

First we had to take out the old shelf and rod.  During this process we had a little mishap so our Labor Day weekend project became a longer project than expected.  Instead of just painting and installing the shelving we had to do a little patchwork.

Office Shelving

I really shouldn't say we because Mark did the drywall patchwork.  He had to put three coats of mud on the patch so that took a few days because it's supposed to dry for 24 hours before applying another coat.  You can see all of the little holes and scraps that we also had to fix.  We painted on Tuesday night but decided to work on the closet shelving today instead of doing a little every day after work.

It was fairly easy to install but wasn't as easy to decide how we wanted it to be organized.

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Homemade Cinnamon RollsHomemade Cinnamon Rolls

We woke up this morning wanting cinnamon rolls so we decided to try to make homemade ones.  We got out the bread machine cookbook and found the recipe.

We put the ingredients in the bread machine and let it do it's thing on the dough setting.  Mark then rolled out the dough, added the cinnamon mixture, rolled them, and put them in the pan to rise for a around 30 minutes.  We then baked them and put the icing on top and enjoyed!
