Life as a one year old is hard work. Lillian gets to play all day long even before going to daycare. We still have Sue’s old laptop that decided to stop working so we thought that it might be a way to get Lillian to leave our laptops alone. It doesn’t work the best since there is nothing on the screen but every once in awhile she will play with it.
She is normally in a decent mood in the mornings so it’s nice to have a little time with her before we have to leave for work.
Lillian loves playing with her toys and the Classic Wii Remote.
She has moments where she will play by herself for a long time but at other times she wants one of us to be right there. She is starting to talk more and more and will talk away while playing. She says a few words including ball, duck, bath, nose, shoe, hi, buh-bye, mama, dada, and dog, as well as signs more, all done, milk, and drink.
Here are two videos of some of her words.
Here are more pictures of her playing.
Last weekend we drove up to Mauthe Lake and Long Lake to check out camp sites. We are planning on going camping toward the end of August so we thought we would check out both campgrounds to see which one we liked better. We were at Long Lake right around snack time so we found a picnic table and enjoyed a snack.
As mentioned in another post, Lillian loves her blue chair. The other night she was sitting in it and throwing her books on the floor. I was acting scared and it was making her crack up. She actually was laughing harder than we were able to catch on video, but you get the idea of how much she was enjoying herself.
This is the beautiful sunset we saw on the way down to Mark’s parent’s house for the wiener roast. It wasn’t easy getting a decent picture through the car window while riding at full speed.
Lillian took a short nap on Saturday so Mark tried to get her to fall back to sleep on the floor while lying next to him. It didn’t work out so well. After realizing she was not going to go back to sleep, we decided to take a bike ride to Regner Park.
It was pretty warm out but we realized what the park has to offer. There are multiple play sets for kids, a man made beach and swimming hole, and a new splashpad. We didn’t have swimming suits so we weren’t able to play in the water but I think that Lillian would enjoy the splashpad.
For Lillian’s birthday she got this blue chair from Great-Grandma Baylor. She LOVES the chair. She is now able to climb into it. Which we found out one morning when we were chatting and turned around because she was screeching with excitement to find her sitting in the chair. She enjoys reading the alphabet books from Michele and throwing them on the floor so that we will hand her another one. She likes to play with anything that we will hand her while sitting in the chair. One day, I think she sat in this chair for 30 minutes. I guess it won’t be a good time out chair in the future.
The annual Baylor family wiener roast was a few weekends ago. We were afraid that the day would be incredibly hot but it really wasn’t too bad. I think all of the trees that Phil and Sue have helped a ton.
Part of Sue’s side of the family was able to make it.
Now to the Baylor side…the cousin’s are all grown up now.
Phil’s brother, Ken, and his wife, Sue. Unfortunately, not all of the pictures turned out so we don’t have a picture of everyone.
Grandma and Steve enjoying the weather.
A few friends were able to join us as well.
Bill and Tanya’s kids, Brady and Lauren.
We had a water balloon fight and Mark gave Lillian one to play with. He put a small hole in it to see how she would react. She got a kick out of it and wasn’t always sure what to think when the water would go in her face.
Dorene and Jeff had a marshmallow cooking contest. Dorene won but they both enjoyed the end result of smores.
I think everyone enjoyed themselves and we hope to have the whole family here next year.
There are more pictures here.
Lillian is now tall enough to sit at the table with us while in her booster seat. Since she is completely on finger foods now it works out great. She feels like she is included and eats the same things that we do. She sure is growing up fast!
We think we created a hybrid lily. We have a few yellow lily plants in the front of the house. In between two of them is a deep maroon lily. Well, this year we have a new plant that is yellowish in the center and maroonish on the petals. Neither one of us remember seeing it there before so we think the other two plants had a baby.
